Why everything has to be ‘happy’ nowadays? Happy Thanksgiving, happy New Year’s Day, happy Holidays, happy birthday, happy anniversary, and so on?
In fact all these are things, not people. They are neutral, neither happy, nor unhappy.
How about us, people? We can be either or.
But, do we deserve to be ‘happy’?
If ‘yes’, who do we expect to make us ‘happy’?
But, whoever he/she/He is, do we make him/her/Him, ‘happy’, to expect reciprocity?
If ‘He’ is the one we have in mind, then His definition of happiness is ‘blessedness’, and it has a few conditions attached for the seekers. Like these:
Blessed are the poor in spirit …
Blessed are those who mourn …
Blessed are the meek …
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness …
Blessed are the merciful …
Blessed are the pure in heart …
Blessed are the peacemakers …
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake …
A few points to ponder during this holiday season.
