God Isn’t in a Hurry

Phillips Brooks, the great New England preacher (who wrote The Joy of Preaching), was well-known for his poise and imperturbability. But his intimate friends knew that he sometimes suffered moments of frustration and irritability. Finding him peevishly pacing the floor of his study, a visitor asked,

- “What is the trouble, Doctor Brooks?”

- “The trouble is”, Brooks answered, “that I’m in a hurry, but God isn’t”.

(Warren Wiersbe wrote a book with a similar title, God Isn’t in a Hurry, published by Baker Book House).
